About Vintech

Vintech The Camera Service Centre is an independent repair workshop in the Melbourne CBD, proudly serving the community for over 20 years. Equipment arrives here from first-time camera owners, enthusiasts, working photographers and businesses that run a fleet of gear — and all of it is assessed and worked on in the one place.

What “independent” means for you

Vintech is an independent service centre and we repair all brands, makes and models. We are not tied to a single manufacturer, and that changes a few practical things for the person standing at our counter.

• One workshop for a mixed kit. Most photographers own equipment from several makers — a body from one, lenses from another, a flash or a video camera from a third. Rather than sending each item off to a different manufacturer’s service channel, the whole lot can be booked in together.
• Older and discontinued equipment. Factory support ends once a model is retired. An independent workshop is not bound by that, so film bodies and legacy video formats are still looked at here alongside current digital gear.
• One point of contact. You deal with the same workshop from the moment equipment is booked in through to collection, and with the same people if you have a question about the quote.

We keep a list of the brands we regularly service. It is not a limit on what we accept — it is simply the equipment we see most often.

What we work on

Vintech’s services are provided for all types of digital cameras, lenses, film cameras and video cameras.

Alongside repairs, the workshop also handles sensor cleaning, memory card and drive data recovery, and conversion of older recorded media to current formats. Each of these is described on its own page under our services, including what a job typically involves and what to bring with you.

Every job is quoted before work begins, and completed repairs are covered by a warranty. The specifics — quote times, service timeframes and warranty periods — are set out on warranty and turnaround.

You will find us on Level 5 of Mitchell House, 358 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, in the heart of the CBD and a short walk from Melbourne Central and Flagstaff stations.
